first impressions teams

Help make our guests feel welcome

  • greeters

    Welcome people into the church with a warm smile and friendly greeting

    Commitment:  Serve every other week

    30 minutes before service until 5 minutes into the service.

         *Families are welcome to serve together

  • guest center team

    Every week we have new guests join us at Northbrook. The people in the Guest Center are the main resource for our new guests. They help answer questions about Northbrook and welcome new people into the church.

    Commitment:  Serve every other week

    30 minutes before or after a service

  • usher team

    Hand out worship folders, welcome people and help them find seats,  and assist in collecting the offering and serving communion.

    Commitment:  Serve every other week

    30 minutes before the service, and continue during the service.

  • nb bookstore

    Bookstore volunteers perform purchase transactions, interact with customers  to assist with LifeGroup curriculum, and answer general questions about the  products we offer.

    Commitment: Serve every other week

    30 minutes before or after a service     *Age requirement: 18+

  • nb café

    Provide high quality coffee beverages to our guests.  Take orders and create beverages using the coffee machine and final beverage finishing steps.

    Commitment:  Serve every other week    *Age requirement: 18+

    40 minutes before or after a service until 5 minutes into the service.

  • complimentary coffee team

    Provide coffee for the congregation by making coffee, refilling coffee stations and cleaning up the stations and pots.

    Commitment: Serve before or after one service on a rotational basis.

         *Age 16+ unless accompanied by an adult.

  • parking team

    Serve as our first chance to welcome people to Northbrook with a warm smile and a wave while directing cars in the parking lot.

    Commitment:  Serve every other week

    One half hour before service, into 5 minutes after service has begun *Age Requirement 18+

worship & Tech teams

Help inspire people to connect with God

  • musician / vocalist

    The worship team positions are vocalists, keyboard, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass guitar, and drums.  If you'd like to try out, we provide you with some music to practice, and then you schedule an audition with one of our worship leaders.

    Commitment: Serve for all weekend services and rehearsals every 4 to 5 weeks

  • lighting tech

    The lighting tech operates the stage/house lighting during weekend worship gatherings using a pre-built cue list.

    Commitment:   Serve once every 4-5 weeks

    Shifts are Saturday 1:30 PM rehearsal through end of service, and Sunday 7:00 AM through end of services

  • computer graphics (CG) operator

    The CG operator runs the screen content (song lyrics, sermon slides) via computer during the weekend gatherings, using pre-built presentations and worship lyrics, under the direction of the floor producer.

    Commitment:  Serve once every 4-5 weeks

    Shifts are Saturday 1:30 PM rehearsal through end of service, and Sunday 7:00 AM through end of services

  • stage / props

    The stage assistant provides support and communication to the worship team, lead pastor, guest speakers, and floor producer during weekend services. Additionally, they are responsible for moving props and keeping the stage clear of clutter.

    Commitment: Serve once every 4-5 weeks

    Shifts are Saturday 2:30 PM through end of service, and Sunday 7:00 AM through end of services

  • camera operator

    The camera person operates the video camera in the main sanctuary for weekend gatherings, following direction from the video director.

    Commitment:  Serve once every 4-5 weeks

    Shifts are Saturday 2:30 PM through end of service, and Sunday 7:00 AM through end of services

  • video director

    The video director works behind the scenes switching the content on the screens, following direction from the floor producer, keeping consistent communication between the camera operators, floor producer, and CG operator, and giving direction to the camera team.

    Commitment: Serve once every 4-5 weeks

    Shifts are Saturday 1:30 PM rehearsal through end of service, and Sunday 7:00 AM through end of services

  • communion prep team

    Help prepare communion for the weekend by filling the communion trays with the juice and the bread.​

    Commitment: Once a month, before one worship service

    Families are welcome to serve together

seven student ministry teams

MIddle and High School age Students

  • seven huddle leader

    At SEVEN, we break up into smaller groups at the end of service by age/gender.  Each huddle group gets their own leader to help encourage them and build relationships.

    Commitment:  Commit to being at SEVEN at least 75% of the time.

    Have a group of students to encourage and mentor.

    Contact your students during the week to help build that relationship

    Offer snacks and drinks to students and leaders at SEVEN. Candy, pretzels, soda, blended drinks, hot cocoa, coffee, and SEVEN gear

    Commitment:  Serve every week, every other week, or once a month.

  • safety team

    Dedicated to helping make SEVEN a safe place. Walk around with a smile, interact with students, and with grace make sure they listen to our rules and stay in the designated areas.

  • seven welcome/check-in

    We really value those first few seconds when someone walks in the door! The Welcome/Check in area is the first impression that students (and their parents!) have when walking into SEVEN.

    Commitment: Serve every week or every other week.

    Smile and welcome students (by name, if you can!).

    Students will check in at iPads

    Welcome/Check-in Team is always 2 adults and 2 student leaders.

  • grounds crew

    Keep the Northbrook property looking great during spring, summer and fall by helping with lawn mowing and garden maintenance.

    Age: 18+ 

  • sanctuary straightening

    Help maintain order in the sanctuary and chapel by restocking the envelopes and pens.

    Commitment:   Serve for 45 minutes every other week

    Serve when convenient for you during business hours Monday-Friday

    Age: 18+ unless accompanied by an adult

  • room restocking

    Help keep the rooms and kitchen areas at Northbrook in order by restocking plates, cups, napkins and utensils.

    Commitment: One hour every other week on Tuesday or Thursday during the day   Age: 18+ unless accompanied by an adult

  • service folder stuffers

    Help prepare for the weekend service by filling the worship folders with the sermon notes page and connection cards.

    Commitment: 

    Serve once a month for one hour on Friday Morning​

  • prayer team

    Support the Northbrook family by praying for our pastors, elders, staff, congregation, partners and community.

    Commitment:  Team meets for one hour each week.
